Well, the first time I ever got to play this game, was with a demo cover cd from a brittish games mag back in 95, my now dusty and very slow 486 DX33, with a double speed external cd-rom drive... sweet memories hehe... I thought this game was going to be a cool one, judging by it looks... well... again, I learned the lesson, never judge a book by it's cover...

The 2-and-a-half-D graphics were ok by the time, kind of the same stuff seen in Duke Nukem 3D, VGA 320x340, or SVGA, but at fairly less detail, kind of bitmapped objects, some interaction with the scenario, great backgrounds and some nice areas, but nothing that special...

The gameplay, the hard part to shallow of this FPS, a real shame... the first time I tried to pull out my gun at the subway station, a cop shooted at me... mmmmmmm... nice... but that's among the few things worthy to mention and worthy to recall... tekwar is more of the same, and brought nothing new to the FPS genre. Not that is a bad game, just not good enough to keep you interested during your lunch time...

music, sounds effects, nothing special too. Just music to keep the pace of the action, some weird gun shots, and that's it for me...

In overall, the difference between Duke Nukem 3D, the game to beat at the time, and this game, is a fair simple one... Duke Nukem 3D was Duke Nukem 3D, Tekwar was a Doom-clone rather boring, period...

a mediocre performer, deserves a 5 -evil-

The only bad part is the hub design. Between each mission, you are represented with Shatner communicating to you, and what objectives are. You need to hear WHAT are you supposed to do. If you screw up shooting somebody, he will exclaim WHAT IN THE HECK you did.

Bottom line: The game is unforgiving, if you are a fan of the series, read the book or watch the TV show. 4/10 "poor"

like you said HighWire... maybe its the level design... or taht odd sensation that you get of deja vu, that you actually have played the same thing just too many times... in another game ;)... maybe was the samething that I felt with Witchaven and Hexen... maybe not bad games, even good games to some people... but nothing greatly improved for the time being... Doom, Duke, Quake, UT, Ghost Spear, Rainbow Six, and many others have proven that creativity and improving the gameplay over the known standards is always possible even for such a now so exploited genre, as the FPS gaming genre is...

I disagree with the review. This game is pretty good.
