There are multiple Skunny games (six to be precisely) but in my opinion Skunny Karts is the best. Once I found it on a shareware cd and I installed it on our 386 pc I was addicted to it. While other Skunny games are platform games, Skunny Kart is different and fits in a totally different category, racing.

Skunny Karts has something that lets me think of Wacky Wheels. In both games you have to drive around in your car with an animal. In this game you can drive with Skunny himself, crocidiles, snakes and some other animals.

The tracks in Skunny Karts are simple in the beginning. Just a nice landscape with a small track and that's it. The tracks you have to drive on later in a championship are much more difficult. One of the most irritating tracks, I even hated this track, was the one with holes in it. When you fall in a hole, you have to wait a while before you can get out again, a lot of times this is the point where your opponents beat you.

During a race you will notice that there are several objects on the road. When you pick it up, something will happen. For example there's a bottle that will make you small or that will make all other players small, a ghost will hold you up for a second and the most hated object in this game is the cat, when you pick it up it will climb on your car and it will smash you on your head. This will slow you down, so your speed reduces enormously and next to that steering will be much harder then before.

Conclusion:
Skunny Karts is a very good racing game. It's not a very realistic simulator like Formula 1 Grand Prix, it's more a sort of crazy and funny racing game. If you like racegames but you don't want to take it too serious, like driving laps untill you fall asleep, then this game is something for you.

By Hanvoof - Aug 23 2006 - 14:36 The Octopus remark is so true. Even though Nacard is cool too. And Handbag. C'mon, who can't love a crocodile named Handbag? Less beauty than Wacky Wheels (which I got on the smae shareware cd at the time) but more weapon fun.
