Baaba-waaba-waaba!!! Welcome to the world of Lemmings, those cute little, urrrm, well actually I don't know exactly what they are meant to be, cute little thingy's I guess ;), anyway welcome to lemmings. One of the most enjoyable games ever made, which is without a doubt, fun for the whole family!

Lemmings was one of my first ever games I owned on a floppy disk. It came as part of a package with my Amiga500, about 10, maybe more, years ago, along with games like `Bart vs. space mutants´, `Captain planet´, and `Deluxe paint´.

Made, by the now bankrupt and finished 'Psygnosis games', lemmings was something different, that had never been seen before on any games machine. It was fun, yet challenging, with you as the controller of a small army of lemmings in which you had to guide through various levels to freedom, watching out for steep falls, fire, and water, among others. You had at your dispense many features and characteristics which you could give to any lemming at will, such as the abilities to dig, explode, block, or even build, each helping your chance of success in completing each level.

This game features the old 'generated password' feature, which is replaced now a days by saving games to either the computers hard drive, or consoles memory cards. Back then not many Amiga owners had hard drives, especially if they used their machine mainly for gaming. It was the kind of feature where you got passed a stage and without having to save the game it would give you a password which you would write down and next time you loaded the game you could enter it to enable you to carry on where you left off. Quite clever.

While writing this review I realised how much this game reminds me of others that I have played over the years, such as the classic 'worms', where you command worms into war, with more or less the same type of system. I guess lemmings spawned off quite a few clones, just as first person shooters such as doom, quake and wolf3d did for their genre. I love lemmings, and its the type of game that no matter what kind of mood you are in, you will enjoy playing, so I have to say with all honesty, if your looking for something different- download this today!!
