Ever wanted to be god? To have supreme power on the humans? Black and White gives you that chance. Lionhead studios could have made the chance longer and more enjoyable but still they give you a good chance.

When the game starts, a kid is about to be eaten by a shark and his parents ask for divine help. You show up and save the kid. Then you are taken to the vilage and that vilage is yours to rule....the good way or the bad way. This game has 3 main aspects wich are all sort of linked. The first aspect is the alignment. The alignment shows wether you're being a nice, mercifull god or an evil, unforigving one. This will have influence on the second aspet, the creature. Soon in the game you are given a creature. You can choose between a tiger, a cow and an ape. You can later change the creature by doing certain quests or with mods. The creature is obviously big (even tough it satrts rather small it can grow huge) and it's up to you to feed it, teach it miracles and reward/punish it when necessary. the third aaspect is the worst: Your people. You'll want to keep your people happy so they can pray (thus giving you miracles) but there's a monotonus cicle behind this. People want houses. After they have houses they'll want food. When they have food they'll want children. Then they'll want houses again and so on.

In terms of presentation, B&W has pretty good graphics for 2001. The sounds are nothing special but they do they job. Lenght-wise, B&W has 5 "lands" you'll visit and then there's the skirmish mode (both off and on line) and unless you have an internet conection good enough to play online or the creature isle expansion pack you'll get bored fast.

Overall: You should be able to find this game on a budget bin easily so get it. And it's expansion. Don't get the sequel tough :)

Ugh, this game is a chore, all you do is watch after an idiotic creature, sad that I ever bought it with my fifteen bucks.
