Short Introduction:
It all begun in the year 1991, this was the year that the first Duke Nukem game came on the market. This is the third Duke Nukem game, the big difference from all other Duke Nukem games is that Duke Nukem 3D has an 3D environment instead of the standard "2D/platform" environment and I have to say that the people at 3D Realms did it great job, they converted good old Duke Nukem to a very good looking 3D shooter which contains three large episodes of fun. Duke Nukem 3D is not just another shoot `m up game, it contains (for its age) high quality graphics, it even support SVGA 800x600 resolutions which is very modern for 1996 and the music and sounds are also very good. Your job in this game is to kill aliens that settled in the city "Los Angeles", you have to kill them with one of your ten weapons or just kick them down with your own feet. Next to this "killing" part you also have to search for keys, you need them to open specific doors that require the key in question, and if that´s not enough for you the creators also included a multiplayer option which is very nice but you need multiple computers to use this.

Features:
Duke Nukem 3D contains three episodes, every episode contains nine levels and some secret levels, and every episode has its own theme (environment), for the rest Duke Nukem 3D also gives you the opportunity to create your own levels (you need a map editor for this) and finally play them in this legendary game. For the rest Duke Nukem 3D offers high quality graphics, nice music and as good as always realistic sounds, the combination of all those points make this game very good and also a little bit enslaving. In this game Duke Nukem is able to swim, jump, crouch and fly (you need a jetpack to do this) which are strong points of Duke3D. For the rest you are able to collect up to ten different weapons and use it to kill many different aliens. Duke3D also contains a multiplayer option, this makes it possible to play this game over a network but this is limited to eight users at a time but for the rest it´s very nice.

The Graphics:
The graphics of this game are extremely good this is because of the usage of a SVGA engine which is able to display Duke3D with fantastic 800x600 SVGA graphics but when your system is to slow to use this you can switch back to 320x200 VGA and some other low resolutions so even 486 owners are able to play Duke3D with flying colours. On the whole I think the graphics are good but the engine sucks a little bit because many things, such as bullets, enemies, keys, etc. are a little bit flat so they don´t look as good as they could.

Music and Sounds:
As usual 3D Realms decided to put high quality music in this game too. Every mission has another soundtrack which prevents this game from getting bored. For the rest Duke Nukem 3D contains hundreds of different sounds, from dieing aliens to gun shots. This combination gives Duke Nukem a special touch and that´s what made this game a classic. This fantastic combination of great graphics, sounds and gameplay make this game, also these days, very enslaving and cool.

The Gameplay:
One of the strongest points of this 3D shooter is the gameplay, it´s very good, almost perfect, you are able to fly, swim, jump, crouch, or just walk around without any difficulties or stupid bugs that show up in many old 3D shooters, it gives you a little bit the feeling that you are a real person that walks around the streets of Los Angeles. When you hear everything you can do with Duke Nukem you will probably think that you need a lot of buttons, well I can tell you that´s not true, you will be able to swim as easy as walk/shoot around.

What do you have to do?
Like in many shooters the main goal of this game is to kill every monster that will show up on your way during the game, it´s such a boring strategy but it´s very cool. For the rest you also have to collect keys, you have to do this to be able to open doors that require a key. Another part of this game is to solve puzzles, hmmm I mean, for example you have to use a specific combination to open a door or blow up a building, you can do this by changing the positions of switches that will show up during the game, I can tell you one thing, it´s not very difficult mostly there are only sixteen combination, and that´s not a large amount of possible combination when you, for example, look at some Indiana Jones games.

Conclusion:
Duke Nukem 3D is one of the best shoot `m up games around, because it has great graphics for its age (800x600 SVGA support), fantastic music and the gameplay is also top quality. On the whole Duke Nukem 3D contains enough variation to keep you busy for many hours, this is because it contains three episodes and around 30 missions, to finish al those missions you will need a lot of time, this is because you have to do multiple things at once, for example kill monsters, search for keys, search for a specific door and find the exit. Duke Nukem 3D is a true classic and I want to say "check it out!!", simply because it´s so damn good.

His eye colour is blue in the original, black turning brown in II, and for this one, I dunno. Looks like he has a "They Live"-ish look. He wears sun-goggles all the time, but he never takes them off.

On April 1997, Manacom developed an un-cut release of the game.

In Austrailia, the game was modified. According to a comment, some person got a long time to add the strippers in.
