I remember when I was a kid I played the demo of this game and fell in love with it. I mean how many kids out there wouldn't like to run their very own theme park and build stacks of cool rides and games. I mean, Michael Jackson even did that right?

Difficulty level
Of course it turns out I wouldn't have enjoyed it that much when I was that age because even now it's a really hard nut to crack. Even on the easiest settings you have to think carefully about how you spend your cash. And if you play on the full micromanagement setting, building a theme park in a difficult area, you will find it pretty hard to break even, keep the little peeps happy and still put the best rides up. But that's the brilliant thing about this game, there is so much scope for replaying it. Even if you've finished building a theme park in an easy area you can then also buy more land in another area and start again, while still keeping your other parks going as well.

Gameplay
The gameplay is excellent and does not get bogged down by an over complicated menu system. You want a ride? Click on the ride button, choose your ride and plonk it down where you want it. A big factor of the success of your park also depends on the happiness of the people in it so if you design your park badly or put your prices up too high you'll have a lot of upset and unhappy guys and girls. The rides are also well varied and range from simple, (jumping castle) to obscure (tree house) to the king (roller coaster), and everything in between, about 20 or so in total. There are also lots of shops and games to put down anywhere and these can make you money as you set the prices of the items they sell or the odds of winning the games. All in all gameplay is excellent.

Graphics and sound
Now as with most old games, theme park is not the prettiest game around but they definitely have certain charm. Colours are bright, images are cartoony and there are a great variety of animations for the visitors to your park. On some of the rides, such as the roller coaster, you can also go for a virtual ride in 3d and I'm sure this was quite a feature back in the day. So again I say, not earth shattering by todays standards but really good for back then. The sound is the most irritating thing of the whole game, I don't know if it's just me. I have never been a big fan of theme park music anyway so after a couple of hours of this stuff playing you will get sick of it. And if I hear one more little person make a barfing up sound I'll scream. That's way I generally play with the sound off. But you can decide for yourself once you get the game.

So what can I tell you in conclusion? Overall this theme park simulation is brilliant. Difficulty is well varied, replayibility is good, gameplay is excellent, graphics are well. So what are you waiting for then? Download it now...
