Short Introduction:
The sequel of The Settlers. The name of this game contains the word "settlers", this is the perfect name for a game like this because you have to build your own settlements. In the beginning you will get some planks, stones and food to start your own settlement but when you used all these kinds of stuff what do you do? normally your villagers will die and this will happen in this game too, but this won´t happen when you build the right buildings, for example a woodcutter will be able to cut trees of course but what do you have when you cut a tree? wood, well that´s not a plank so you have to make a Sawmill to change wood into a plank that can be used for several things such as building buildings, making weapons and tools. As you can see this is a sort of "team" game, this sounds strange but when one member is missing for example the Sawmill in my example you won´t be able to make a plank so you basically waste your time and collect a lot of useless wood. The Settlers is certified as a strategy game and that´s 110% true, when you are unable to figure out strategies this game will be very difficult for you, you will be able to complete the first mission, maybe even the second but that´s it. Well I just explained the "build your settlement" part but that´s not everything this game has to offer because during the game you will be involved in a lot of wars, so you need a strong army to defend yourself otherwise your settlement will be gone in no time, especially in later missions.

Features:
Like I said before this game offers you a lot, you´ve to make your own settlement, take care of your villagers and you´ve to fight. This won´t be easy and will take a lot of time and energy. The Settlers II also offers a multiplayer option which is extremely cool, who doesn´t want to beat his/her best friend in a game like this? not much people I guess but I´ve to say that we can´t call the multiplayer option very spectacular, I want to suggest you to find it out by yourself. Settlers II offers a lot of different buildings, like a sawmill, a bakery, a forest hut, a woodcutters hut, farms, mines and much more, for the rest this game knows twenty-five different professions from woodcutters to soldiers. Settlers II offers ten campaign missions and sixteen free missions, free missions can be used for multiplayer games or a customized match against the computer.

The Graphics:
The graphics of this game are beautiful for 1996, Settlers II has SVGA graphics and supports three high quality resolutions, 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768 pixels, this game will look the best in the highest pixel mode available, 1024x768 but on some computers this game will crash when you use it. This game runs smoothly on low end Pentium computers, on 486 systems it will run a little bit slow but it works.

Music and Sounds:
I don´t want to call it spectacular but when you own an official CD of the Settlers II, like me, you will be able to choose between CD sounds (you can even listen to these tracks when you put the Settlers II CD into your CD Player) and MIDI sounds, both types sound good but are not spectacular at all, in the end most of us will put the music off, so the music part is not very good at all. When we look at the sound effects this game will get an average score, it doesn´t use a lot of sounds but it´s nice, not spectacular or brilliant at all, most sound effects are about one or two seconds and you will hear them a lot of times in a row when you have a good settlement.

The Gameplay:
The gameplay is great, sometimes a little bit irritating but not difficult to learn at all, within a couple of minutes you will be able to control this game. When you play this game for the first time you will get a little bit weird of it but after some exercise you will be able to build successful settlements and win battle when you are in a war. You have to use your mouse to control this game but there are some great addition buttons available when you use your keyboard for example when you press "V" this game will speed up many times, when you don´t use this button it will take hours to complete a mission simply because the build process takes ages.

Conclusion:
The Settlers II is worth a try; it´s a great game and will keep you busy for many hours. It´s a very enslaving game too so when you don´t have a lot of time don´t play it. The Settlers II is extremely cool especially because of its high quality graphics, tons of features and gameplay.

That game is really good, a unforgetable classic. It's realy better then the first one.
You can play it for hours and hours and hours...
